It's a girl!

Finally, after our 3rd ultrasound our stubborn daughter decided to cooperate. I would post the ultrasound picture but using the scanner is way beyond my skill or motivation level. All goes well, Eden Grace Centeno will be born less than 4 months.

Napping

I have never been a happy napper, but I will say lately it is becoming increasingly enjoyable.

As for the picture below, my guess is that Carlos needed to entertain himself or just wanted to be in the picture.

Life as usual

Last night Carlos was telling me about the book he is reading about a man who is a missionary in Lebanon (the country, not the city I live in). He was saying how every evening the militia begins bombing in the city. Every evening people stay in their homes, go in the basement and live life. There they spend time with their family, play games, read, whatever. It is just life as usual.

He was telling me this because last night around 11pm I took Norman out and noticed a bunch of teenager/ young adults sitting on the railing of the store across the street. 15 mins. later we were talking in the living room and noticed the lights of police cars outside. (One of the great things about living in the city is that everyone is nosy and wants to know what is going on, so we were watching out the window.) The same young men were now laying against a car with their hands on the roof, while police searched them and their car. Eventually, after the police pulled several small bags out of their car, they were arrested. All the while little kids went on playing on the sidewalk and streets around them. They were living life, despite the drug bust going on. I didn't hear any parents calling for their children to come in. It is just life as usual.

Interesting how often we are so wrapped up in our own lives that we are shocked by what other think of a life a usual. These are just two examples, it is sad to think how many others I am unaware of. I am content knowing my life as usual now includes drug busts as well as many other things that it didn't used to.

Cupcakes

This evening Carlos made me cupcakes, just because he is nice. I didn't even ask.

Norman is obviously not impressed with the cupcake making.

Norman

This is what Norman looks like everytime I walk through the laundry room. For some reason he would rather lay there than anywhere else in the house. Personally, I like to believe he is guarding the door. Sadly, I doubt that is the case. I woke him up to make the picture.

Norman does not like being photographed, so since I tried to take a picture of us together he decided to try to crawl under me. Sorry it is blurry, I was not expecting the sudden dive under my head.

The local Library

I have decided it is really about time I start utilizing the benefits of the public library. I have been there twice in the past week and I think I could really get used to this. It helps that I have learned how to log in their online system and request things from other libraries and see if I have fines (which may be one reason I avoid going, for some reason I always owe them money). What is great is that it is within a 15-20 min. walk from my house, realisticly I am never going to walk there on my own because then Norman would not be able to come...but if I know what I want before I go and write it down and I can walk with carlos and Norman. Or I suppose just Carlos if he wants something as well. Today during my library trip I got out the book "clean House, Clean Planet" it has been recommended to me several times but as far as spending money on books goes, there was always somthing else I wanted to read more. But thanks to my public library I am now able to learn how to make my own cleaning products without spending money on the book, and I must say it doesn't get much better than that. Will I actually follow through and make my own cleaners? That is yet to be decided. So recommend books to me people, I need ideas of what I want to check out next!

I like making lists

11 Things that I love about Carlos…

11). He has an amusing accent when he says certain words

10). He loves Norman, even though he has only admitted it once.

9). He listens to my irrational ranting about many, many topics.

8). He genuinely tries to make me happy and we all know that is not always easy.

7). He puts up with my emotional outbursts on a regular basis.

6). He has a passion for people, poverty, the environment and many other things I think are really important.

5). He does the dishes every night after dinner

4). He is sexy! Even though I tell him regularly that he should stop seeing how long he can grow his beard. Cut it off already!

3). He is one of the few people that is as sarcastic as I am, other people would probably think we cross the line if they heard the level of sarcasm we use on a regular basis.

2). He challenges my thinking (this also might be on my dislike list half of the time)

1). He is literally the funniest person I know.
