Eden Grace

Ok, here is the story.

So, Friday afternoon I was out in the yard cleaning up dog poop ( I know a great start to the story) and all the sudden there was a huge gush of water and after about a second of questioning whether or not I could have just lost complete control of my bladder, I gave that up and decided it really was my water breaking. After calling Carlos to come home, I went to the dr so they could verify once again that I had not lost control of my bladder. After sitting there for a half hour waiting on a dr feeling very gross by this point I was finally given my chart and told to go to the hospital. So I picked up Carlos who was home by this time and off we went. I was not noticing any contraction and when the checked me I was only 1-2 cm. So because I clearly and emphaticly stated my desire for an epidural once this thing got started the began my IV with fluids and then some meds to move the labor along. Several hours later I was only 3 cm but not enjoying the pain, so the dr whom I now love said just give her the epidural awhile she knows she is going to want it. From the epidural forward I was a very happy person. There were several instances where Eden's heart rate was dropping and a C-section was seeming more and more likely each time the monitor started alarming, they had even done a cathiter just to be ready if they went that route. Her heart rate dropped one more time, the nurse said lets see where you are before I go see that the dr wants to do. Then she stood up stunned and said I was fully dialated and ran for the dr. as several other nurses started pushing in the equiptment for delivery. This was at 11pm. The dr checked me and said to wait a little as the baby moved further down, since he needed to deliver another baby at that point he came back in a little after midnight. I ended up pushing through 2 contractions I believe and then the dr put the bab on my stomach and said he had to go (another woman delivered 5 min after me I later found out). She was 7 pounds and 19 inches. Born at 12:23 am. Sat morning.

So, not even 2 days later and here we are at home. Eden sleeping, Norman whining trying to figure out what this new thing is. Eden is jaundice so we have some kind of funky fiberoptic band that she has to wear under her clothes, it is very funny because she glows neon blue through her clothes. Tomorrow she has to have more blood work done and then hopefully gets rid of it. The biggest pain is that she needs to be plugged in so you can't walk more than a couple feet from the outlet when holding her.

So I think that is the general story. If you want a longer, slightly more gorey and disturbing story you would need to talk to Carlos.
