Hay for the Camels

This year we decided that since the kids get so many gifts at Christmas, we would do most of our gifts on Three Kings Day. Three Kings Day is celebrated in Puerto Rico and we decided to add a little culture to our lives. Part of the tradition is putting hay or grass in your shoes or a shoe box for the wise men's camels to eat while they travel to visit Jesus. Similar to Christmas stockings, in the morning the hay is gone and it is replaced with gifts. So while the kids know there are really no kings coming to visit our house, they had a lot of fun getting their boxes ready. I will say it sure it make a big mess, only to have to clean it up and hour later when they went to bed. Gifts are in the bexes, and I am ready for bed. Tomorrow Carlos took the day off and we have a big Puerto Rician dinner. Here's to the last day of our holiday season.
